Welcome to Swindon & District Samaritans
Thank you for visiting our website. Our branch is located in central Swindon and has been running for nearly 60 years, meaning we have a wealth of local understanding that enables us to reach out locally to everyone who needs us. We have around 110 listening volunteers and around 20 support volunteers who live and work across our area – from Faringdon, Lechlade and Cricklade to Marlborough, Devizes and Pewsey and all the surrounding areas in between.
Alongside answering calls and emails from people who need our support, we are also active in the community, attending local events to raise awareness.
Our volunteers are also available to deliver presentations about our work and emotional health to schools, workplaces, clubs and organisatio
Volunteering with us at our Swindon Branch
Like all of our branches, we are run entirely by volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering please contact us via the “volunteer at this branch” link below.
Listening Volunteer Role
Have you ever thought about becoming a Samaritan? We are looking for listening volunteers!
We recruit and train listening volunteers twice a year, typically in Spring and Autumn. If you are interested in volunteering in our Swindon branch please click the "Volunteer at this branch" button at the bottom of this page. This will take you to lots of information about being a listening volunteer, the recruiting and training process, how we will support you and what exactly you will do as a listening volunteer.
If you like what you see, once you have registered your interest, someone from our volunteering team will be in touch.
Swindon Samaritan Shop
We raise our own funds and much of our funding comes from our charity shop. Our charity shop is entirely run by volunteers. To find out more visit here Swindon Samaritans Charity Shop
