RECRUITMENT

Branch Treasurer- April 2024

We are in need of someone with some experience who would be able to take on the role of branch treasurer. This is, one of only two statutory roles which are voted in at the Annual Branch Meeting.

The treasurer role comes with lots of support and guidance from the Samaritans Central Charity and I have no doubt our current treasurer Laura would be happy to explain the role in more detail should anyone wish to take it on. I am also sure that Laura would be happy to answer any questions should you be interested.

This is a support volunteer role. By doing this you would only have to complete the first section of Samaritans training (Virtual week 1) plus of course the virtual safeguarding training. You would not be a listening volunteer (unless you wish to undergo the full training and also wish to fulfil the expectations of a full listening volunteer.) If you know anyone and they are interested please get them to contact me and we can arrange a chat.

This is a vital role for the branch and therefore I hope that someone can spare a few hours, in a support volunteer capacity?

Please contact me if you are interested.

LISTENING ROLES

Listening Roles - We would welcome applications from anyone who is interested in becoming a Samaritans Listener. A Samaritans listener is there to give emotional support and a listening ear to our callers. If you can give a small amount of time each week I know our callers would be grateful. We will be holding information sessions where you can come along and find out a bit more about Lincoln Samaritans, meet some of our brilliant volunteers and get an idea of what the role entails.- Watch out for dates on the website!

SUPPORT ROLES

We would welcome applications from anyone interested in volunteering at our branch in a support role. These are essential role! The branch cannot run without support volunteers.

If you would like to help us we are really in need of someone who support the fundraising leader. This would be a volunteer role- working with the leader for fundraising to look and apply for funding to help support the branch. This is a vital role as all Samaritans branches are self-funding and therefore we need at lease £20000 annually. If you are interested please email [email protected]

Congratulations to our new Samaritans who have just finished their training and are embarking on their Samaritans career! THANKYOU!

About Us

We have about 50 volunteers. They listen to our callers, on the phone. We also welcome people to come to the branch and talk to us face to face, when we are open. Lincoln Samaritans also supports a listening service at Her Majesty's Prison Lincoln and is developing a listening service at HMP Morton Hall in collaboration with Grantham Samaritans.

We are all volunteers and the branch has to raise all of our operating costs which is in the regions of £20,000 per year therefore fundraising is essential! We are keen to encourage people from our local community to get involved with raising funds for our branch. If you are able to support the branch with a donation either personally or from a company, charitable fund or indeed a small bequest in a will, we, and more importantly our callers would be most grateful.

You are welcome to find out more about Lincoln Samaritans and our roles by clicking on the following links: our latest news, fundraising, outreach and the prison listening service.

If you have a little time to spare, why not apply to be a volunteer. There are lots of different roles from administration to listening to callers and we would love to welcome you to our team. Just click on the link below.
