The Herefordshire branch of Samaritans was founded in November 1972 and has been offering emotional support both locally and nationally since then.
Our branch is led and run by volunteers.
We have over 100 volunteers who are a combination of Listening Volunteers, offering support via the telephone, email and when possible at our outreach events. We also have support volunteers many of whom are Trustees or have specialisms in IT support. As a charity in our own right we are responsible for raising funds to cover our running costs and much of the work of our Friends Group goes into this.
We take over 20,000 contacts from people in distress and despair a year in the Hereford Branch all of which is done by our group of trained and dedicated volunteers.
