We’re a branch of around 80 volunteers who supported almost 10,000 contacts over the last year. We also worked with Newport Custody Suite to offer face-to-face support to those who had been arrested
Who We Support
We supported people at football and rugby clubs, building sites, community groups and several known sites where people in distress gather. We worked with two local prisons to train and then support inmates who became Listeners. And we delivered talks and information to lots of businesses, community events, schools, colleges and universities so that people would know where they could turn for help.
Office Refurbishment
Much volunteer time has helped refurbish our new offices. Volunteers have stripped off plaster, pulled up flooring, replaced carpets, re-wired, plumbed and decorated. This hard work has paid off as we now have a fully accessible site with a much bigger duty room and other facilities. The new building gives us the opportunity to re-open our face-to-face service in the branch. We can offer a community hub space for others to meet when times are tough. We are grateful to all the volunteers who went the extra mile to raise the funds to enable us to do this work, and of course to those who gave money and time.
