It's been scientifically proven that regular physical activity and exercise can make us healthier and happier. When we're active, the body releases feel-good hormones that can improve our mood and boost our energy. Exercise can also help to reduce feelings of anxiety and other difficult feelings. There are lots of different ways to be active, whether you are starting off with a brisk walk or trying a free online exercise class indoors. Setting goals with others is a great way to stay motivated.
At Samaritans we have a range of fundraising events that encourage those who can to get active. This includes our very own Samarathon and Dawn Walk, the London Marathon, cycle events and much more.
Mindfulness and self-care
Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present in the moment, and being aware of your thoughts, emotions, and sensations. It encourages a deeper connection with the present and can help reduce stress, enhance self-awareness, and promote overall wellbeing.
Self-care is different for everyone, but it’s a great way to give yourself a break and do something that makes you feel good. It could be getting out daily for some fresh air, hitting the gym, spending time with a pet or taking a nice long bath. Even stepping away and taking a five-minute break over a cup of tea could help you relax and recharge.
