Our year-long Charity of the Year partnership with Bank of England raised £69,000 to help fund our lifesaving work. Thanks to their hard work, our volunteers can support over 14,000 people.
The partnership was launched supported by Bank of England Governor, Mark Carney on Brew Monday. Held on ‘Blue Monday’ (the third Monday of January) the fundraising campaign aims to beat the January blues and loneliness, by encouraging people to get together over a brew.
The Bank of England takes the mental wellbeing of its 4,000 employees very seriously. Its Mental Health Network is now five years old and spans around 350 members of staff. Samaritans was nominated by the Network and worked with them the Network to roll-out the Wellbeing in the City learning resources to staff.
Co-Chair of the Bank’s Mental Health Network, Anastasia Vinnikova, said: “Wellbeing in the City offers the opportunity to introduce a tool that is flexible - the concise and modular nature will mean that each colleague can find a suitable time to complete the training at a pace that works for them.”
Nicole Edmondson is a case officer at the Bank and has completed the learning programme. It has given her the skills to look after her own wellbeing and the courage to approach colleagues who are struggling. She has seen a noticeable impact on colleagues by simply asking them if they’re okay and encouraging them to share their feelings. Nicole said: “It was a good way of connecting to a colleague and remembering we’re all human.”
