Our Slough branch are currently undertaking a major refurbishment and are looking for a volunteer Project Manager to start in early October take this from the next stage to completion.

What's involved

Building work is due to begin in January 2024 with the expectation that this role would end around the middle of 2024.

  • Experience of construction project management, construction engineering, construction methods and materials, architecture, or another related field.
  • Familiarity with the building code would be preferred.

Candidates should also ideally have:

  • A keen eye for detail and a passion for quality work.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skill and organisational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers and contractors.
  • Ensure project team understand the project’s goals and objectives, timelines and budget.
  • Coordinate with all parties involved in the renovation project to ensure smooth communication and efficient workflows.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawings.
  • Check the progress of the works versus the programme liaising with the building contractor when they identify potential issues, such as delays or cost overruns, and acting to prevent them from occurring.
  • Regularly visit site for inspections.
  • Conduct inspections of work completed by contractors to ensure that it meets requirements and ensure that works are completed to client’s satisfaction before final sign-off.
  • Checking invoices and monitoring cost variances and raising issues as they arise.
  • Help the project stay within its financial constraints and ensure the project is completed on time and within budget.
  • Managing communication with SW&M Refurbishment Team and contractor to ensure that they are aware of status of the project.
  • Produce progress reports for SW&M
  • Ensure that all health and safety regulations are being followed during the renovation project.
  • Arbitrate on any disagreements during the project.

Location

This role could be completed remotely but it would ideally suit someone who lives or works locally to Slough branch.
