Our industry guidelines provide sites and platforms hosting user-generated content with best practice principles for managing self-harm and suicide content.
These industry guidelines include best practice principles for managing self-harm and suicide content online, with the aim of helping organisations to create safer online spaces for vulnerable users, enabling people to access benefits from the online environment while minimising the potential for harm. They are aimed at all sites and platforms hosting using generated content, ranging from small online community forums to global social media and video sharing platforms.
These guidelines have been developed in collaboration with government, tech companies, academics and third sector organisations. They will continue to evolve in response to emerging online harm issues, the latest evidence base and the upcoming UK governments online harms regulatory framework.
