Samaritans Cymru is setting out to break the cycle of suicide risk in rural Wales through the ‘Our Farming, Our Future’ project. The project is delivered in partnership with farming support charity, Tir Dewi, and works closely with Wales Young Farmers Clubs (YFC) and their members to develop peer-led activities and resources to reduce the risk of suicide in rural communities across mid-Wales.
Our overarching aim is to help young farmers build strong community support and resilience and to reduce stigma associated with suicide and self-harm.
There are three focus areas to the “Our Farming, Our Future" project:
We are looking for enthusiastic YFC members to become ‘Farming Future Champions’, to actively promote suicide prevention and mental wellbeing in their communities. At present, we are looking for members from Powys and Ceredigion counties.
If you are interested in becoming a ‘Farming Future Champion’, please complete an Expression of Interest form and our Young Farmers Project Officer will get in touch with you.
