Sarah Millican helps raise over £179,000 for Samaritans during sell out comedy tour
After an extended eighteen-month sell-out tour of the UK and Ireland, the curtain came down on Sarah Millican’s final Bobby Dazzler gig in Belfast where Samaritans volunteers’ bucket collections brought the total raised for Samaritans to over £179,000!
With help from long-time Samaritans supporter Sarah herself, Samaritans volunteers have attended and raised money for the charity at each and every one of Sarah’s 205 UK and Ireland shows.
Sarah Millican said: “I’m always so impressed by the dedication of the Samaritans volunteers and the generosity of my audiences but never more so than on this tour with the difficulty of the pandemic and the tightness of money. So grateful to all of the collectors and of course listeners. And a huge thank you to all of my glorious fans who’ve donated over the last 18 months. What a bunch of smashers you are!”
Throughout her tour, Sarah has posted messages on her social channels, thanking her audiences for their continued support of the nightly collections for Samaritans.
All the money collected during Sarah’s Bobby Dazzler tour has gone directly to the branches from every nation that have been involved in supporting these collections.
Sonya Trivedy, Samaritans Executive Director for Income said: "On behalf of Samaritans, I’d like to say a massive thank you to Sarah and to her audiences for their support – they’ve all been absolutely brilliant!"
It comes just before Sarah hosts her annual #JoinIn event on Twitter on Christmas Day that encourages people to connect online if they’re finding things difficult or feeling lonely.
