Samaritans Ireland launches 2020 manifesto

Samaritans Ireland has launched its 2020 Manifesto and is calling for support on its 4 Asks 4 A Safer Ireland:

  1. Men: A national, well-resourced plan to reach and support men at high risk of suicide.
  2. Self-Harm: Everyone who self-harms should have access to support to help them identify and address the reasons for their distress, and to find alternative coping mechanisms.
  3. Loneliness: Support and develop social connections at an individual, familial, community, and societal level to significantly reduce loneliness in Ireland.
  4. Online Safety: Minimize harmful online content relating to suicide and self-harm, and maximize online opportunities to support and help people at risk of suicide and self-harm.

Established in Ireland in 1961, there are now 21 Samaritans branches across Ireland with more than 2,000 active volunteers.
