In response to today's Spring Statement, Samaritans express their disappointment that the government failed to renew vital local suicide prevention funding.
The Government chose to waste an opportunity to save lives today. Areas across the country have relied on ringfenced local suicide prevention funding for three years and, without it being renewed, their communities are left with less support at a time when suicide rates remain stubbornly high. Saving lives can’t wait but without investment at both a national and local level, the national suicide prevention strategy will fail to reach its ambitions and lives will be lost.”
