Joselia from Dublin is running the Dublin Marathon to support Samaritans Ireland.
Meet Joselia from Dublin, who's running the Dublin City Marathon this Sunday for Samaritans Ireland:
"When I saw the work Samaritans does, and the support they offer to those in distress, I knew I wanted to help," says Joselia.
"14 years ago, I lost my father suddenly. One day, after taking care of the animals and having an afternoon coffee, he left home. He never returned. The next day, we discovered he had died by suicide.
"Back then, mental health was a huge taboo. Psychiatric, counsellor or therapy sessions were for people with severe mental health challenges and very expensive for my father’s reality.
"Today, I understand that life has ups and downs. And when the downs hit us, that is the moment we most need help. I hope by running the Dublin Marathon for Samaritans, I can somehow help.
I've had absolutely amazing support from my work colleagues, friends, and running friends.
Joselia
"I once heard that a marathon is a milestone you add to your Life Curriculum," Joselia shares. "It’s going to be hard but I'll be proud of every single step. The word 'marathon' is scary and I'm nervous. But I am extra motivated to think that every mile supports Samaritans."
We're so grateful to Joselia for taking on the Dublin Marathon for Samaritans this Sunday!
