Hybrid and flexible working
We are a flexible organisation, and we embrace hybrid working – a mix of connecting in-person and virtually. We’re aware that the world is changing, and we all want and need different things from our work and home lives.
From January 2025, alongside the ability to work from home, we’re moving to a framework of mandated, in-person time. This expectation is around 2 days per month. This includes a blend of in person meetings with your line manager, team meetings and working in-person with colleagues in other areas of the organisation.
We believe this approach will enable our people to communicate, connect and collaborate in the most effective, positive and inclusive way. We’ll also looking at how we improve effectiveness of how we work together virtually. Further info below.
Our approach to selection
We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. If you’re excited about the idea of working for us, but your skills and experience don’t quite match the criteria outlined in the person specification, we encourage you to apply for the role anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
Please note that to be considered for any of our roles you will need to apply by clicking on the role link and completing the online application form. Please note that we can't accept speculative enquiries.
Sponsorship
Samaritans doesn't have a sponsor license, therefore none of our roles are available for sponsorship.
Criminal Records Checks
Some roles come into contact with children or adults at risk and therefore these roles will be subject to a criminal record check. The level of check will vary depending on the role (often Enhanced or Enhanced with Children’s Barred List). If a role requires a check, this will be stated in the job advert, alongside the level of check required.
Disability Confident Employer
As a disability confident employer, we welcome applications from candidates with disabilities and neurodiversity. We operate a guaranteed interview scheme, whereby all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the role they have applied for will be offered a guaranteed interview.
Reasonable Adjustments
We aim to make our recruitment process as accessible and inclusive as possible and we know that by making small changes to the process, we can make a big difference to people’s experience. If you feel that an adjustment to the recruitment process will enable you to be your best, brilliant self, then just let us know what you need and we’ll do all we can to support you. Feel free to chat with our Recruitment team about your specific needs ([email protected]).
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) at Samaritans
We want Samaritans to be a welcoming place for our staff and volunteers, and as diverse as the communities we live and work in. We will take targeted action to improve our representation, and to make sure we have an environment where our people feel safe, that they belong and that their experiences are valued.
We are proud of our diversity network groups that meet regularly. These groups provide a safe and empowering space for staff and volunteers to meet others with similar lived experience and help to influence our work. We have a Sams of Colour network, LGBTQ+ network and a Disabled volunteers network. The groups advocate for changes and improvements, organise celebration events, and are a channel for members to have their voice hear.
