The power of effective debriefing can help you feel safe to explore difficult experiences and the emotions that go with them.
Our latest training offering Debriefing Conversations to Support Your Team draws on Samaritans’ 70 years of experience of supporting our listening volunteers to debrief after their shifts.
After a challenging conversation or event while at work, individuals can often experience stress and other difficult feelings like anxiety. Debriefing sessions, conducted with empathy and understanding, provide an important outlet for these emotions to be acknowledged and expressed without judgement.
This short course has been designed to develop the skills of anyone in a role where they are supporting individuals or teams who support others.

I found the course extremely beneficial to my every day mental health as it has given me the permission to take a step back and talk about how calls may have affected me. Similarly, I am now more aware of the signs in my colleagues when they have been affected and can offer support.
