We all go through difficult times, and it can be easy to feel like we have to keep it to ourselves so we've created a way to help: our TALK tips.
Opening up and talking about how we're feeling can help take the weight off. Next time you're talking to or messaging a friend and they ask how you are, try and be honest about how you are feeling. You can use that moment to open up and ask for support if you need it.
If you aren't sure how to bring up how you are feeling, why not try our TALK tips. They can help if you're going through a tough time and you want to tell someone.
Next time someone asks how you are, try the following tips:
T - Take your time
There’s no rush, it can take a few tries before you feel ready to open up.
A - Ask for support
Tell a mate how you’re feeling. Remember, you are never alone, Samaritans are always there to listen.
L - Let others help
You’re not a burden and the people you care about want to be there for you.
K - Keep it real
Be honest about how you’re feeling – it can help take the weight off.
Remember, if you ever need to talk, our volunteers are there 24/7, every single day of the year. Call 116 123 for free from any phone if you need to talk and someone to listen.
