York Samaritans Ramble 2022
*** POSTPONED ***
People across the country and the wider community are taking in the news that HM The Queen has passed away and we know that the news will affect people in different ways and have their thoughts elsewhere at this difficult time. So in light of this, we have made the decision to postpone the Rambe to a later date in the year.
If anyone finds themselves affected by the announcement and would like to reach out for support, Samaritans volunteers are available over the phone on our freephone line at 116123 or by email at [email protected].
Ten Samaritans from the York Branch, together with volunteers from the surrounding area, will be walking a 19-mile round trip from York to Beningbrough Hall on 15th September 2022 to raise awareness of the benefits to our mental health of physical activity. Our walkers will start from the York Station short stay car park at 9 am and walk along National Route 65 on a flat traffic-free riverside path along the Ouse and then along quiet country lanes before finishing the walk back to York Station.
York Branch will also have a stand-in place in York on the day of the walk and will be there to explain the role of Samaritans, hand out leaflets, and give handy tips about how anyone can help by listening.
Please note that this walk is for all abilities and you can join us at certain points on the route...

The York branch was founded in 1967 and is one of 202 branches nationwide. All of this is made possible by over 120 volunteers who take calls and answer emails, day and night. Volunteers also help with fundraising, running the Branch, managing our finances etc. This dedication is supported by generous public donations which make up nearly all our income. It currently costs approximately £100 each day to keep us open. Your support in helping us do this is greatly appreciated.
