York Samaritans Heritage Cycle Ride
Eleven riders from the York Branch will be cycling 56 miles from Hull to York on 16th September 2021 to raise awareness of the benefits to our mental health of physical activity. Our riders will visit Beverley, Market Weighton, Pocklington, Stamford Bridge, Dunnington and Osbaldwick before finishing the ride in Parliament Street, York.
York Branch will also have a stand-in place in St Helens Square on the day of the ride and will be there to explain the role of Samaritans, hand out leaflets, and give handy tips about how anyone can help by listening.
Samaritans are contactable 24/7 on our freephone line 116123 or by email at [email protected] and we are there for anyone who might be struggling to cope with life’s difficulties.
Donations in support of our riders and to keep the services going that enable us to reach those who are struggling to cope can be made at our virginmoneygiving page, or by texting YORKCYCLE and any amount to 70085.
The York branch was founded in 1967 and is one of 202 branches nationwide. All of this is made possible by over 120 volunteers who take calls and answer emails, day and night. Volunteers also help with fundraising, running the Branch, managing our finances etc. This dedication is supported by generous public donations which make up nearly all our income. It currently costs approximately £100 each day to keep us open. Your support in helping us do this is greatly appreciated.
