The UK Careers Fair returns to York on Friday 28th February 2025 and York Samaritans will be exhibiting. There are lots of ways you can volunteer for York Samaritans, it all depends on what skills you have and how much time you’ve got to give...
Listening volunteers answer calls and messages from people who really need someone to talk to. Events volunteers help us to support our fundraising events like the Dragon Boat race. You can get involved on event days as a cheerer or photographer. Support volunteers help us in a variety of ways, marketing our services, fundraising, organising events or providing IT support.
To learn more about being a Samaritans volunteer visit our stand at The York Careers Fair between 10am and 2pm on Friday 28th February 2025.

Our primary aim is to increase awareness of York Samaritans and to spread the word that we are there to listen 24/7 - whether it’s by telephone, email, letter or online chat. We’re there for people whenever they are facing challenging times.
You don’t have to be suicidal to reach out to us. Last year, volunteers from York Samaritans spent over 5000 hours supporting the public through the 24-hour freephone helpline, 116123, our email [email protected] and our online chat service.
