On 8th June 2024, Worthing Samaritans hosted the 45th Samaritans National Walk.
Around 76 people took part in the walk
The walk was open to volunteers, family, friends and the local community. You could choose to raise funds for a charity - this can be for Samaritans or a charity of your choice
The area
Arundel itself is an historic town with both a medieval castle and a Roman Catholic cathedral that are popular with tourists.
There is easy access to Arundel by either train or car with plenty of parking throughout the town (including free parking and paid car parks). Further information will be available to download nearer the time.
Choice of walks
The walks began and finished at Arundel Football club with two lengths of walk to choose from – 13 or 25 miles (lengths may vary slightly whilst we finalise the routes).
Both routes headed along the river Arun before joining the South Downs way and then circle back to Arundel on the opposite side of the river with beautiful views of Arundel Castle and the town itself.
All walkers received a medal and a certificate.

The day continued....
On the evening of the 8th June there was food, fun and entertainment at Arundel Football Club. The evening provided an opportunity to talk to fellow volunteers, family and friends about the day and hopefully make friends and help us to support Samaritans.
Andy and his heavy weight
Andy has walked many miles sparking conversations about carrying emotional baggage and how Samaritans can help lift those burdens. Listen to this audio interview with Patrick 145 from Worthing Branch.
