The third Monday in January is sometimes referred to as ‘the most difficult day of the year’ but this is a myth. At Samaritans we know there’s no such thing as ‘Blue Monday’ – we all have our good day
So we say it's time to stop this myth about Monday being 'blue' and instead mark 'Brew Monday' a day to start a conversation over a brew!
This year, volunteers from the Winchester and District Branch had a presence at Winchester train station throughout the day: to speak to commuters and travellers and raise awareness of our service.
Since it's Brew Monday, we were also handing out Samaritans tea bags! We handed out over 800 tea bags with details of our 24/7 helpline - and had over 500 conversations with people at the station.
A great effort from all of the volunteers who gave up their time on Monday to support - thank you!
We handed out over 800 tea bags to remind people that we're here to listen if you need someone to talk to. We won't judge or tell you what to do.
