Eddy and Andy of WSM Samaritans complete a 25 mile trek across the N. Yorks Moors
It's only once a year but anyone can enter the Samaritans National Walk. This year it was a choice of 25 or 12.5 miles across the North Yorkshire Moors. Some people are gluttons for punishment. The intrepid Weston Samaritans Eddy and Andy set off in the longer route to raise money for the branch. It rained most of the time. The wind howled. There were long ascents. There were long descents. They had to follow narrow paths across the almost deserted moors. Their boots were wet. Their waterproofs were barely water proof. Calamity beckoned.
Fortunately the Teeside Samaritans had marked the route with great care, provided drinks, food, and maps and friendly helpers at the checkpoints. So it was that Eddy and Andy reached their ultimate goal – Guisborough Rugby Club –slightly exhausted but in high spirits.
To date they have raised over £1300 between them You can still donate at Virgin Money Giving. Do it now.
