10th October 2019
Walsall and District Samaritans were out in force on World Mental Health Day spreading the word about our #RealPeopleRealStories campaign.
Our day began bright and early at Walsall station where we greeted commuters and gave away goodies. There were loads of lovely exchanges with commuters, some of whom had used the service at some point and wanted us to know how helpful it had been.
Hannah, Caroline, Angie, Anna, Steve and Carolyn were there spreading awareness of the day and our RealPeopleRealStories campaign click here to find out more
From the station, we moved on to ASDA Walsall. Again, we met with so many lovely people. The feelings of warmth and gratitude for our organisation were really overwhelming.
Sharon, Caroline, Angie, Carolyn and Steve chatted to shoppers and handed out goodies! A special thanks to Martin, the community champion from Asda for his constant support.
Running parallel at Walsall College were two of our fantastic volunteers, Lou and Grace who attended the colleges WMHD event. Again, the response was so positive and Lou and Grace thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Another one of our volunteers Amy, invited us to speak at English Athletics/ UK Athletics at Alexander stadium at 1.30pm
Steve and Anna gave a presentation about the day, our organisation and the RealPeopleRealStories campaign. Around 30 staff attended.
Our outreach team leader Steve, was really touched when he reeled out the banner on the pens we were given to find that they were his words and his story! It made the day even more special for him. Click on the link for more details Our RealPeopleRealStories campaign
