Our volunteers regularly attended Outreach events in the local community, along with community related fundraising. We are always delighted to be invited to talk about the work we do.
At the start of 2024, our volunteers have been out at various events raising awareness of our service and fundraising.
In January, our volunteers were at The Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton, taking the retiring collection at the end of the Sarah Millican concert. Our thanks to Sarah who is a great supporter of Samaritans, and to all the patrons who donated as they left.
Brew Monday saw our volunteers at the Manor Hospital, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, sharing teabags with visitors, patients and staff. It was a lovely opportunity to talk about what we do and remind people that it’s good to talk over a cuppa. Whilst we were there, staff from Tilbury Douglas visited to give us a donation collected during their own teatime break.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust invited us to attend their Self Care event, an opportunity to talk to members of the public and services providing support to individuals. Talks included a clear reminder on the value of exercising in the fresh air, for improving mental health.
Thank you to our volunteers for attending these events.
We were delighted to receive Tracy and Jim Peak and David Bradbury to the branch to receive their donation for Project 55.
Footherley Alpacas very kindly held a fundraiser for Project 55, and it was delightful to meet many members of the public who attended on a very windy afternoon. We raised £178.
Our Quiz and Chips evening was very successful with over one hundred people coming along to enjoy a fun evening and helped raise over £1000 for Project 55.
