Our Annual Branch Meeting 2023
The branch meeting on 1st November, 2023 involved the presentation of a report of all that has happened in the previous year, a number of commendations for long-serving volunteers, the presentation of some delightful gifts and the handover from Branch Director Ann13 to Co-branch Directors Ravinder1 and Jennifer2. Ann has committed 3 years to leading the branch forward and will now have a well-deserved sabbatical lasting 3 months, during which time she won’t be seen in branch.
We also had a fabulous presentation by Steve Thomas from Ey Up Ben, a local fundraising group who this year are supporting Wakefield Samaritans. They were set up to support local men's mental health initiatives in memory of Ben Rowntree who sadly took his own life in 2017.
We also had the opportunity to celebrate 70 years of Samaritans, since the next day was the anniversary of the first call to Chad Varah’s helpline.
Finally, there was a chance to have a good chat to others, and to enjoy a lovely buffet, provided by Crocodile Sisters.
