Wakefield Samarathon - Update!

It's getting closer and closer, our challenge to walk 26.2 miles around Wakefield and the Districts to raise money for Wakefield Samaritans on July 27th! Our eager Samaritans are getting ready to undertake this great challenge and only one thing is missing - sponsorship!

At Wakefield Samaritans, like all branches around the country, we answer calls for help from those who need us and provide a listening ear free from judgement to help think things through. Last year we answered over 15 000 calls for help as well as over 8000 emails and texts. To keep this up we need to raise money. Maintaining and running our building, supporting volunteers, going into schools and prisons, even making the tea all comes at a cost. We hope Samarathon will not only be a great chance to raise some funds but to support the community and raise awareness out and about as well!

Our walk, and Samarathon nationally, coincides with Talk To Us 2019 and we hope that our walk may spark some conversations in our area to make sure we can ask our friends, family, colleagues, neighbours if they're ok and be there for them if they're not. Together, we can look after each other a little better.
