Wakefield Samaritans are walking 26.2 miles to raise money and awareness for our service.
Wakefield branch are taking part in the Samarathon, the challenge to walk jog or run 26.2 miles in July. However, we thought we'd set ourselves up for something a little bit more difficult and do it all in one day! On Saturday 27th July we will be setting off from the branch in Wakefield and making our way through our local districts. The route, starting and ending at the branch, will allow us to stop at Ryhill, Ackworth Garden Centre, Hemsworth Tesco, Pontefract Tesco and Normanton Town Hall to take well earned rests along the way!
We expect the walk will take around 10 hours including stops and first aiders and helpers will be on hand in case of any injuries. It doesn't matter how fast or fit you are, everyone is welcome. People of all ages, abilities and needs are taking part - if you need any more information on access or general enquiries, please use the form on our home page.
We also hope to see some supporters at our stops to keep us going and cheer us on too! There's something for everyone and it's a great chance to raise some funds to support the work we do.
