Recruitment
We are currently recruiting for listening volunteers at our Tunbridge Wells branch.
As well as listening volunteers we also recruit support volunteers to help with tasks such as Administration, Fundraising and Maintenance of our Property.
We invite anyone who wishes to meet us to an Information Day to find out more about who we are and what we do. On that day there is an initial talk and for those who after that would like to continue there is an afternoon of discussion and listening role play to determine whether being a Samaritan is right for you.
What happens next?
Once you have attended an Information Day we may ask you back for an interview and with this process complete we then move onto training.
The training takes places over eight weekday evenings spread over eight weeks and also requires additional online modules to be completed at home. This equips all Listening Volunteers to support our callers whether over the phone, email, WebChat, or in person at our branch.
The Samaritans training programme is the same throughout the UK and ROI. This not only allows Volunteers to move between branches but, most importantly, ensures that all callers receive the same level of support.
