Outreach Team
For the schools and colleges in our area - we have a team of trained Samaritans who travel around to give talks offering services to and emotional health training to young people.
Feedback suggests people find our talks interesting & informative. They are interactive and specifically geared towards the age of the audience. As well as explaining what Samaritans does, the talks are designed to encourage listening skills, and to open up discussion about issues which impact young people.
There is usually time for questions and answers. Our aim is to promote Samaritans as an organisation offering sympathetic, confidential and anonymous emotional support for anyone, should the need arise. Talks are mainly aimed at students, but we are happy to talk to PTA meetings, teachers groups etc.
For the wider local community - we can provide speakers wherever there is a group, club or organisation that wishes to hear more about Samaritans, about the value of listening and about the difficult issues which various sections of the population regularly encounter.
Speakers
We are available to give talks to a wide range of organisations. We tailor each talk and its content to the audience and can include an opportunity for group discussion if required.
