Our outreach work is a really important part of what we do at Swindon & District Samaritans and we are really pleased that following the pandemic, 2022 has seen a return to our busy outreach calendar.

Brew Monday 2021
The third Monday of January, has been dubbed Blue Monday. It is meant to be the day of the year when people are feeling at their "bluest". With Christmas a distant memory, payday not quite here yet and still in the dark days of winter. Samaritans has renamed it "Brew Monday". A day when you can reach out to people over a cuppa, enjoy a chat and a ”brew” together.
In usual times our volunteers would be out and about in local coffee shops etc, chatting to people, making connections and letting people know Samaritans are here. This year being a little different we are encouraging people to connect with each other with a virtual cuppa!
On Brew Monday one of our listening volunteers, Matt, featured in a video by Wiltshire Community Foundation @WiltsCF with a tip on how to be a better listener.
Time to change video
We were proud to take part in the time to change video, a collaboration of local charities reaching out to the local community during these difficult times.
Banners
Banners are a great way to reach a large audience so across our local community banners were hung from Faringdon to Marlborough to Swindon.
Petrol Pump Signage
Another great way to reach a large audience. Our volunteers arranged for petrol pump signage to be displayed in Swindon, Pewsey, Devizes & Calne.
Contact Cards
Our contact cards and leaflets have been distributed to food banks & charity shops. If you or your organisation would find these helpful, please get in touch
Talk to us 24/7
To highlight our 24/7 Talk to us campaign on the 24 day of the seventh month, with the help of Swindon Borough Council, we turned the Greenbridge roundabout in Swindon green. Click on the picture above to view the video!
