Our volunteers were recently at the grand opening of Viaduct Park in the centre of Stockport.
The new park is above the bus station, part of the Stockport Interchange. It was opened by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester and head of the Mayoral Development Corporation, which is behind the scheme and has led much of the regeneration in Stockport.
Stockport Samaritans have been working with Willmott Dixon, the main contractor on the site, to provide sessions for workers about Samaritans’ emotional support services as the construction industry has a high level of suicide.
This was part of our 1000 mugs project funded by the National Lottery.
