Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead Samaritans campaign highlights life changing impact of talking
Samaritans volunteers are raising awareness of its 24-hour emotional support services – available to everyone – whenever they need help.
This July, Slough Windsor and Maidenhead Samaritans is reminding the public that its volunteers provide around-the-clock emotional support to anyone who is struggling to cope.
The charity’s annual Talk To Us awareness campaign is highlighting the life-changing power of talking, culminating with Samaritans Awareness Day, on Monday 24 July – reflecting the fact volunteers are available 24/7.
Throughout the year, Samaritans are celebrating being here to listen for 70 years, in which time volunteers have answered more than 134 million calls for help.
Graeme Buck, a Trustee at Slough Windsor and Maidenhead Samaritans, said: “It's been a very challenging few years and we know that many people are still facing all kinds of pressures, however, we want to remind everyone that you are not alone.
“Whatever you’re going through, it doesn’t matter how big or small the problems feel, our volunteers are here at any time of day or night, whatever you’re facing.
“The power of talking through how you’re feeling, or sharing a particular problem, is amazing. Talking to a Samaritan is free and everything is kept confidential. And you don’t have to be feeling suicidal to speak with us. Many of our calls are from people who are simply struggling to cope, and want to talk to someone who will listen, without judgement.”
