Mooch with a Pooch for Sevenoaks Samarathon – will you fundraise for us or sponsor us ?
It’s Samarathon time again!
July’s the month we’ll walk, hop, skip, jump (or whatever you fancy) over a distance of 26.2 miles to raise vital funds for Sevenoaks Samaritans. (It’s a national Samaritans thing)
Last year Tom picked litter every day for a month and other Sevenoaks Samaritans also covered the distance to raise nearly £4K – it’s helped us run our self-funded service this year. You can do the distance in a day, spread it over the month or even run a marathon a day – it’s entirely up to you.
This year, we’re going to the dogs and our faithful friends are doing the fundraising for us! If you’re a dog owner, your pooch can help us keep listening through 2023 and well into next year – by signing up on our fundraising platform and walking (or running, or ambling) the distance. Take a look and you’ll see that some of our dogs have already signed up and are in training!

Samaritans’ dogs also have a mega-mooch planned for Saturday, 8 July when, to cover the distance, 26.2 dogs will walk 1 mile each (smallest dog will be the 0.2). We’re hoping for laughter, fun and a tiny bit of chaos!
Samaritans know that pets help with mental wellbeing, so by walking your dog, and asking people to sponsor your four-legged friend you’ll not only be helping raise funds, you can also promote good mental health.
Please share the page with friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, dog lovers – even the cat people in your life. Every cause needs claws, after all.
If you don’t have a dog, there are plenty of other ways of doing Samarathon. You can sign up individually, or if there’s a group of you, why not create a team? Here’s the link.
