At these events you will be able to find out more about volunteering and the work that we do and you will be able to explore whether Samaritans is the right place for you.

After one of these sessions, to continue the process of becoming a volunteer, you will be invited to attend an interview to discuss more about Samaritans and yourself.
Following this, if you decide you want to go further, the next step is to attend Samaritans Core Training, which is held over a number in-person Saturdays, and several evening zoom sessions.
January/February 25 training dates are as follows:

Tue 28 Jan: Skills Practice 1: 19:30-21:00 (Zoom)
Sat 1 Feb 09:30-15:30: Group Session 2 & Skills Practice 2 (Branch)
Tue 4 Feb 19:30-21:00: Skills Practice 3 (Zoom)
Sat 8 Feb 09:30-15:00: Group session 3 & Skills Practice 4 (Branch)
Tue 11 Feb 19:30-21:00: Skills Practice 5 (Zoom)
Sat 15 Feb 09:30-13:30: Group session 4 (Branch)
You must be able to attend ALL of the sessions!

However, all potential volunteers would still need to attend a Discover Samaritans Day at the branch, as it will cover more comprehensive information and should answer any questions you may have.

Alongside our regular volunteering roles, we are currently recruiting for night owls, volunteers who will only do night shifts (shifts between midnight and 7am). If you think you may be a night owl, please let us know when you express an interest.
