An amazing day at our annual Redbridge Samaritans Branch Conference!
We had great talks about caller support, prison system, fundraising, social media and health and safety.
It's always great to meet and connect with our existing and new fantastic volunteers in one room, and a lovely way to mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2024.
Thank you to everyone who came along!
Here are some lovely quotes as to why our volunteers volunteer with Samaritans:
“I volunteer with Samaritans because I believe that everyone deserves to be heard.”
“The primary, non-sexy, non-inspiring reason is work experience. However, it was the best excuse to join the best organisation I’ve ever been with, and to join a second family.”
“I volunteer with Samaritans because I know how valuable it has been for me to have people to talk to in tough times, and not everyone has that.”
“Passion for supporting people, give back to the community and Samaritans excellent reputation.”
“I volunteer for Samaritans to put something back into society, help people, and try to contribute so that no one should feel alone.”
I volunteer to give something back to society and because I am aware not everyone has someone to talk to.”
“I continue to volunteer because it is a great honour and privilege to be trusted with someone’s inner thoughts, problems and feelings. Volunteering has taught me not to be so quick to judge others and their situation. I hope to be a lifelong volunteer and a lifelong learner.”
“I volunteer for Samaritans to use my skills to benefit the greater good.”
