We celebrated 60 years of Portsmouth Samaritans with a party and a cake
On Sunday 12th June Portsmouth Samaritans held a party at our London Rd centre to celebrate the branch’s 60th birthday. It was well attended by volunteers and supporters past and present. Helen Puckett, Branch Director, cut the celebration cake for us.
Helen says "A lot of things have changed over the last 60 years. We now support people by email, and are working on offering a web chat service. But the core of the our service has not changed at all. We help people in emotional distress by giving them a safe place to talk through whatever it is that’s troubling them. Our service is confidential, and we never judge or criticise our callers.”
