Peterborough Samaritans were invited to talk at Yaxley Library
Following a recent poster campaign we were invited to give a talk in Yaxley Library, Peterborough. Volunteers spent 2 hours there on 19th February explaining what Samaritans do and how to support people that are emotionally struggling. Fourteen people came along to hear our talk and, going by comments we received, learned a lot about Samaritans and found the talk very interesting.
From our perspective the fact that there were lots of very good and challenging questions made the event very enjoyable. Interestingly the two library staff who were working told us afterwards that they were dreading the talk. They thought that it would be dreary and depressing so it was good to hear that they had been pleasantly surprised and had also really enjoyed our talk.
