Peterborough and District Samaritans is a welcoming, inclusive, friendly and vibrant community of around 70 volunteers who offer emotional support to hundreds of callers every week.

Please be advised that we are not currently accepting face-to-face visitors at the branch. Please contact us on our freephone number: 116 123

Peterborough Samaritans has been supporting Peterborough and the surrounding area for 50 years.

What's going on in Peterborough?

As well as delivering our listening service, we support HMP Peterborough and HMP North Sea Camp by training prisoners to provide emotional support to their peers.

Our Outreach team regularly deliver talks and/or training at schools, local employers and community groups. And of course, we host the occasional fundraiser.

Want to volunteer?

Our city is multi cultural and wonderfully diverse. We are actively seeking to attain more diversity in our volunteer workforce and warmly welcome applications from people of all ethnic backgrounds.

We are always on the lookout for new volunteers either to provide emotional support or behind the scenes to help the branch run. Why not join us and help make a real difference to peoples lives, be part of a large community and learn new skills that are relevant to work and everyday life.

We hold regular information sessions for people interested in volunteering and these are the dates we are running them.

Online information sessions starting at 1900, via Zoom:

  • Thursday 25th January
  • Thursday 28th March
  • Thursday 30th May
  • Thursday 25th July
  • Thursday 31st October

In person information sessions starting at 1000, 441 Lincoln Road:

  • Sunday 25th February
  • Sunday 28th April
  • Sunday 30th June
  • Sunday 29th September
  • Sunday 24th November

Each information session gives you an idea of what exactly Samaritans do, how we are trained, the type of calls you will have to deal with and how to help people in distress who need someone to talk to at difficult times in their life.

If you'd like to hear more email us on [email protected].

We are especially interested in volunteers who can help us with IT.
