Anti-bullying week, from the 14th to 18th November, is the perfect time to think about how we can come together to stop bullying
The Anti-bullying Alliance – ABA – organises anti-bullying week each year to help people speak out against bullying.
Primarily focussed on children and young people, the theme “Reach Out” was devised in consultation with schools to combat the harm that staying silent about bullying can do.
However, bullying can affect people of all ages and from all walks of life, and can take place anywhere. At work, during hobbies, in social situations, and even at home.
This campaign is relevant to all of us.
We encourage everyone experiencing or seeing bullying to reach out to someone, and if you’re not sure who to reach out to, call us on 116 123 or emailing [email protected]
You could be a victim yourself, worried about your child, or a friend, or colleague.
We’re here, day and night.
The message from Anti-Bullying Week this year is: be the change you want to see.
It isn’t always easy, and it takes great courage to speak out, especially if you are being bullied, and perhaps feeling afraid.
Talking about your experiences with bullying – whether it is happening to you or someone else – could help you to work out what to do in a difficult situation.
The Samaritans are ready to listen.
The week kicks off with Odd Socks Day, celebrating the fact that we are all different.
Helpful tips, materials, and other ideas to raise awareness are available on the ABA’s website here: Anti-bullying week 2022
Please don’t suffer alone if you are experiencing bullying, or worried for someone else.
Call 116 123, and talk to us.
