Norwich Samaritans joined 18 other charities from around Norfolk at a mental health awareness night at Norwich City’s stadium.
The event, at Carrow Road, was organised by the Norwich City Fans Social Club and saw Norwich Samaritans volunteers be on hand to hand out leaflets and talk about what our non-judgemental free listening service offers and how it works.
Over 150 people attended the event at Carrow Road and heard about grief, addiction, the power of counselling and the importance of communication when it comes to dealing with mental health issues – all with the aim of removing the stigmas surrounding it.
Anyone who needs emotional support can call 116 123 for free or email [email protected] to speak to and get support from a trained Samaritans volunteer, with the space to talk about whatever’s on their mind in a non-judgemental space.
The 180-strong group of volunteers work from a branch based at 17 Westlegate in Norwich city centre and have been offering support to people that need them since 1964. Further information and ways to contact Samaritans can be found on the charity’s main website.
The Carrow Road event was held on 23 January.
