Thanks to Stokesley Young Farmers for inviting us along to talk to them about our branch.
We always welcome the opportunity to visit various groups to talk about Samaritans and on 16th January we were invited along to talk to a great group of young people at Stokesley Young Farmers Club. We talked to them about the history of Samaritans and our branch in particular, which was started in 1964 in response to the difficulties faced by the farming community at that time. Indeed, Northallerton and The Dales was the first rural branch to be set up.
We went on to talk about our service, including how our volunteers are trained, and ended the evening with some interesting questions.
Stokesley Young Farmers Club offers various opportunities to its members such as developing skills, working with the local community, taking part in varied competitions and enjoying a dynamic social life. You can find out more about the group by visiting their Facebook page.
Thank you to Rachel and the rest of the group for making us so welcome.
