Cake, cold temperatures, and wonderful walker support - our Woofs and Wellies event was enjoyed by two- and four-legged walkers alike.
DESPITE the cold and overcast weather (which brightened as soon as we all left to drive home, of course) our first ever Woofs and Wellies was a great success. Not only were we joined by some lovely people who had seen our posters up and around the area, but some of our volunteers also donned their boots and wellies to walk with us around the beautiful Cod Beck reservoir in Osmotherley.
Highlights of the morning
- A passing police patrol officer who, instead of asking us why we had plonked ourselves in Sheepwash car park, donated to our cause and enjoyed a chunk of chocolate cake.
- Two children who donated their ice cream money and plumped for free crispy buns instead ("These are much better than cold ice cream in the wind, mum!").
- Lots of people coming over to find out more about us, enjoy some cake and donate - despite being there simply to walk, rather than for Woofs and Wellies.
- 'Woofs' sporting 'Well Done!' rosettes and our volunteer Di's snazzy wellies.
- The fantastic cakes baked by Di.
- The wonderful scenery of Cod Beck and its passing sheep and lambs.
- This was our first ever Woofs and Wellies and there's no doubt we'll be doing it again. If you'd like to join us, keep an eye on our Upcoming events pages for details.
