The Great North Run is famous for its inclusive atmosphere, unbeatable on-route entertainment and warm Geordie welcome, not to mention the millions £'s raised each year for worthy causes.
From the rush of the Red Arrows flying overhead to the oggy-oggy-oggy chants, Great North Run magic can be hard to understand – until you’ve experienced it for yourself on the Newcastle to South Shields route.
There will be 60,000 determined and dedicated runners make the Great North Run the World’s biggest and best half marathon and One of Our Branch Listening Volunteers is intending to do this "fun run". Fingers crossed when the ballot closes she will be selected and we will post more information on how she can be sponsored for fundraising for the Northallerton and Dales Branch.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re running to beat your personal best, to raise some cash for charity or simply for the pint at the end, you’re guaranteed a run like no other – and a finish line feeling you’ll never forget. Would you consider Samaritans Northallerton and Dales Branch as your chosen Charity for the Great North Run?
We know that life can sometimes be incredibly tough. Thanks to the dedication of more than 20,000 volunteers, Samaritans can be there for anyone, whatever they are going through and whenever they are struggling to cope. We're also at the heart of local communities, working with schools, workplaces, railways, prisons and hospitals to offer training and support, preventing suicide and helping people turn their lives around.
Our life-saving work wouldn't be possible without the extraordinary generosity of our event participants and sponsors.
