Huge thanks to David who recently took on the Great North Run to raise money for our branch
David, who is the husband of one of our listening volunteers Judith, recently decided to take part in the Great North Run. Originally intending to keep their son Tom company, David decided he would use the opportunity to raise money for our branch, Samaritans Northallerton and the Dales. He knew a bit about the branch from things Judith had told him and had previously helped with a street collection. He was amazed at people’s generosity and this helped him understand how much the charity is valued by the community.
David ran with his son Tom and friend Sally. Their route ran from Sneck Yat along past the Sutton Bank visitor centre and back. David completed the run in 2 hours 40 minutes. Not bad for a 64 year old!
Thanks to the generosity of family and friends and the support of the Wheatsheaf Inn, Borrowby he raised just over £900. Grateful thanks to all who donated.
