It's been a busy few weeks here in the Samaritans of Newry & Dundalk. Let's find out what our brilliant volunteers have been up to...
Vintage Car Show
A massive thank you to Kilbroney Vintage Show for their wonderful £1,000 donation. Along with other local charities, a number of our volunteers helped out at the Vintage Show in September.
The organisers did a fantastic job and as always, have helped lots of local charities in the process, something they can be very proud of!
This will help make sure we are there for anyone in distress.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council
Newry Lions Club
Schools' Sponsored Walk
A huge thank you to the pupils and teachers of four local schools for taking part in a sponsored walk along the Newry Towpath.
St Mary's High School Newry
Our Lady's Grammar School
Sacred Heart Grammar School
St Colman’s College
All the money raised goes towards keeping our branch open and making sure our volunteers can be there for people who need to talk during times of worry or distress.
We couldn’t do this without the support of the local community.
Shopping Centre Outreach
With the busy festive shopping period coming up, some of our volunteers set up outreach stalls in our two local shopping centres, The Quays and the Buttercrane.
Just have a visible presence in the local community can help remind people we are there for them when they are going through difficult times. And the children loved the balloons!
