Pay for your warm drink using conversation instead of cash today at Manchester Piccadilly station and learn how Small Talk Saves Lives
What’s so different about the warm drinks at Manchester Piccadilly station today? You can pay in small talk instead of cash.
Small Talk Saves Lives (STSL) is back for another year! Between 7am and 6.30pm today, you can purchase a warm drink at Manchester Piccadilly station’s pop-up No Filter Cafe in exchange for practising your small talk.
Because suicide is preventable and suicidal thoughts are often temporary, engaging in something as simple as a question or an observation can be all it takes to interrupt someone’s suicidal thoughts and start them on the journey to recovery.
Research shows that passengers have a key role to play in suicide prevention, so STSL is in place at Manchester Piccaddilly station today to empower you to trust your instincts if you see someone at risk so you can have the confidence to approach them, start a conversation and potentially save a life.
Since 2017, STSL has been an award-winning partnership between the Samaritans and Network Rail, British Transport Police and the wider rail industry.
If you need to talk to a Samaritan, here are all the ways you can get in contact for free.
