ROLE TITLE: Branch handy-person
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE (last updated May 2021)
- To help with repairs such as general maintenance, basic plumbing and electrical work, testing and maintenance of HVAC systems, test of fire alarm systems, monitoring inventory and any other assigned tasks.
POSITION AND SUPPORT IN ORGANISATION
Accountable to: Co-Directors
Accountable for:
Liaises with: Branch Administrator and Deputy Director Infrastructure
1) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Changing lightbulbs or repairing wiring and fuse boxes
- Move and replace furniture and equipment, as required
- Performing basic repairs of the air conditioning, and/or plumbing
- Complete repairs that may not require a specialised technician
- Ensure adequate storage of equipment, tools, printed material and boxes
- Maintain PAT testing register and carry out testing as required.
- Maintain Fire Alarm test register and carry out weekly fire alarm testing
- Check basic H&S
2) QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE
- Ability to lift and move furniture and
fittings within the branch and between floors - ,Experience in Performing Various Tasks around several
floors in the branch - Attention to Detail,
- Willingness to Learn to use Specialised Tools and Equipment
- A desire to Work with volunteers and accommodate requests.
3) LOCATION, TRAVEL & EXPENSES
- The work of the handy-person will be carried out within the branch.
- All previously agreed out of pocket expenses related to the role will be reimbursed in line with Branch Expenses Policy
