Recruiting and Training
We have been busy over the past couple of years recruiting and training listening volunteers to support our callers.
Through the pandemic we developed our virtual training but we are now almost back to normal! Core training now takes the form of both digital learning and six face to face sessions which are run by our Deputy Director for Training and members of the training team. This gives new volunteers the opportunity to meet each other and some of our experienced volunteers, learn new skills and put them into practice as well as gaining an understanding of what being a Samaritan is all about.
Each new Samaritan is linked with an experienced mentor who will guide them through their initial few months and beyond! We ensure that support is there for all our Samaritans whether you are new to the role or have been a Listener for 50 years!
Congratulations to our new Samaritans who have just finished their training and are embarking on their Samaritans career!
WELL DONE and THANKYOU!
Moving forward we are hoping to once again set up some information sessions where you can come along, meet some of the team and find out a bit more about being a Samaritan, what we do and just as important what we don't do!. There are both Listening and support roles to be filled so please keep an eye on the website for the dates of the information sessions!
If you can give a few hours a week to support our callers we know they will be grateful.
