Three very brave second year students from LSAD, Michelle Eustace, Sarah Dowling and Sophia Condon are going to do a skydive over Easter to raise funds for Samaritans Limerick and Tipperary Branch. Michelle explains “I met volunteers from Samaritans at a stand in LSAD during Mental Health Week and was really impressed with the work they do here in Limerick. The next day I was talking to Sophia who said a sky dive was always on her bucket list and the idea was born from there”. The three friends got together to plan the event and all agreed to raise money for Samaritans. Sarah said “We wanted to pick a Limerick charity as we are from different parts of Ireland but have Limerick in common. Knowing we are helping people while doing something we’ve always wanted to do makes the experience sweeter”. Lorraine, Director of Samaritans Limerick and Tipperary said “I think it’s amazing what these students want to do for us. Our branch is 100% voluntary so all money raised will go directly into the costs of running our branch to keep the phonelines open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our branch depends on public donations like this and we are truly grateful for whatever is raised on this skydive.” Samaritans are there for anyone feeling anxious, stressed or finding it hard to cope, freefone 116123 and [email protected].
