On 12th October volunteers from the Samaritans Inverness Branch gathered for a Dawn Walk to celebrate World Mental Health Day.
In solidarity with anyone struggling to cope, Samaritans and friends from all over the UK were doing their own Dawn Walk. Though initially rainy, our group walked 5k along the Caledonian Canal, starting at the Muirtown Swing Bridge and returning on the other side via the Merkinch Nature reserve, with a detour to the picnic spot at South Kessock.
A big thank you to The Jammy Piece for their breakfast rolls and tea, and to the Inverness Ramblers and Great Glen Walkers who joined to support us. We raised awareness of what Samaritans offer, raised some funds for our branch and had a grand start to our weekend.
